Some of the times when we had sex on speed, it was the most amazing sex we’d ever had. We got to meet and embrace our inner pig, we gained and gave ourselves the freedom and permission to explore and expand our boundaries and we felt inestimably accepted by our partner or partners. Other times or at the same time, we felt sexually and emotionally unfulfilled, lacking integrity and filled with shame.
Now, after the party’s over, we’re also dealing with the physical and psychological results of using speed: unattractive weight loss, STDs, HIV, Hepatitis C, depression, memory impairment or other neurological problems. The balance has shifted. That ultimate thrill is over-shadowed by the negative effects of using. We want to reduce or eliminate our use of crystal but we’re afraid to, may not believe that we can and don’t know how to make the transition to sex without speed.
You’re not alone in wanting to feel and act differently toward crystal. Perhaps we’ll always remember that this chemical afforded us incredible sexual experiences and seemingly immeasurable amounts of intimacy. Many of us deal with the same issues and despite the challenges; we do make the adjustments and learn that we are able to have great sex without the crystal. It’s going to take a lot of perseverance and maybe the support of other guys in the same boat. Sex without crystal will be different, for sure, but that’s part of the choice we’ve made about speed in our lives. For many of us, the things that other guys did or do to make this change can be the same things that inspire us toward our own goals.
